It's quite amazing that I've never chronicled a Rumba meal for you here on the blog. It's a hip little spot where I often hang out with my girlfriends and go on date nights with the hubby. It was even the location of choice for my birthday celebration for three different years! Anyone that knows me well knows that this is a BIG deal because I don't leave that occasion in just anyone's hands.
Really, truly, I've been eating here for years and think the food has only gotten better over time. The menu is creative, diverse, and in my opinion, exciting! And guess what? It's also reasonably priced. I took my San Diego friend there recently when she was in town and she was blown away by not only the quality, but also the quantity of food we got to eat for so little money.

So today I thought I'd share with you some of the things that are rockin' my world on the current menu. Please keep in mind that I tend to order tapas style and share with my dining mate/mates. More flavors to savor that way!
Stuffed Peppadews
grilled south african peppers, goat cheese and chorizo
Don't let their small size deceive you. They pack a punch when it comes to flavor!
Fried Artichoke
tandoori seasoning, panko breading, hummus, romesco, proscuitto chips

Sorry, I didn't get a photo of this one. I've actually only had it once, on my most recent visit, but I was knocked out! Yum. Yum. YUM.
blue cheese, bacon, grapes, local honey
Slap me. De-freakin'-licious. Pretty much can't go there any more without ordering at least one of these.
manchego cheese, flour tortillas, pebre sauce
Pork confit. Enough said.
Chicken Satay
with trio of dipping sauces:
Spicy Peanut, Chimichurri, and Hot & Sour
This is another standard at my table, but I sometimes like to mix it up and get shrimp, or a mixture of shrimp, steak and chicken. The sauces are so good that I could drink them.
Chickpea Fritters
ground garbanzos, hot pepper jelly
These are listed in the "minis" part of the menu and are only $4 for an entire plate!
Some other items that are definitely worth mentioning: Caribbean Nachos, Shrimp Masala, Jamaican Jerk Pork, and Grilled Corn Salad. If you can't find something you like out of all these dishes, then something is wrong with you. Sorry, but it's true.Oh, and I can't forget cocktails!! The Rumba bartenders are absolutely awesome and their drink menu is one of the best in the city. My tried and true libation of choice is:
Pacific Pearl
Pearl Vodka- Ginger Lemonade - Mint
But on a recent visit, I tried something new that was really tasty:
Orchid Fizz
Bombay Sapphire-Lychee Liqueur -Black Tea Syrup -Fig Bitters
But then of course on Sundays I order wine. Not because it's the Sabbath and that's what you're required to do. No silly, because all bottles are 1/2 price!! Yep, you got it. Every bottle on the menu is offered up at this huge discount, so you better believe I'm taking advantage of it and you should be too!
